Covering nearly 65000 acres the area is known for its vast marine and bird life. Las Tortugas consists of seven small islands composed of white sandy beaches and colorful coral reefs. Ft. Jefferson is the highlight of the park standing tall since the 19th century when it was the largest coastal fort in the United States.
