Homemade (DIY) stone and concrete water fountain. I made it by mixing portland cement (a component of concrete) with some sand in a 1:2 (cement:sand) ratio. After mixing the cement thoroughly, I added a touch of black and terracotta concrete color, briefly mixing to create a pattern in the stone. Then I dumped the concrete mixture into a large and deep sandpile that I had shaped into a cradle. A hole in the dirt would work fine...I had plenty around. I forced stones into the concrete, partially pushing through the concrete into the sand cradle to ensure that the larger pieces were anchored. After letting it set for 24 hours, I drilled 2 holes into the top of the concrete structure with a 3/4" masonary drill bit and standard electric drill. I then realized that I had to prevent water shooting directly out of the hole, so I epoxed a rock in front of each hole. I then used Marine epoxy, balled up and rolled around a 3/4" ID hose and epoxed the hose into the wall, packing the perimeter of the hole with a screwdriver when it was in place. Finally, I pushed some of the epoxy tightly against the hose and wall to ensure that it would not leak out. I placed the structure into a wooden base (with a 3/4" plywood floor) that I screwed together and I used liquid-nails to glue pavers to the front. I used a concrete mixing tub from Lowes that fit into the base. I used a small plastic flower tray to make sure the 60 lb concrete didn't puncture the liner. The major support was provided by ...
