Keepin It Green :New York Jaws: The Biology of the Great White Shark (part 5)

Dr. Demian Chapman, an internationally recognized shark expert with almost a decade of experience working on sharks, discusses the Great White Shark during a lecture at Stony Brook Southampton University. A molecular ecologist and field biologist who specializes in integrating new technologies including DNA analysis, acoustic and satellite tracking in conservation oriented studies related to the dispersal and reproduction of sharks and rays. He is particularly interested in how shark reproduction and movements impact population dynamics, population genetic diversity, and geographic population structure and their implications for conservation. Dr. Chapman is the author of more than fifteen scientific articles and currently manages field research projects on sharks in Belize, the Bahamas, New Zealand and Florida. He was previously a research scientist with the Pew Institute for Ocean Science and is currently an Assistant Professor at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York.
