Three new artificial reefs have been placed in Port Phillip Bay. They have been named; Rec Reef; off Aspendale, name to highlight the use of these reefs to improve recreational fishing in the bay. Tedescco Reef; off Seaford, named to honor Neil Tedesco, who passed away on 16 April 2009 at age 31. Neil was a devoted fisher and diver and a true ambassador for these sports. Yakka Reef; off Frankston, named after the growing number of people using kayaks as an environmentally friendly way to go fishing. This video is of the later, as I too am a kayak fishing person, so being its interest to me. I hope to come back during the snapper season to video it again and see if there is much of a difference. The bottom, sand/silt over mud is fairly baron of any form of structure or plant life, large marine species (fish etc) also appear to be missing with only on Port Jackson Shark and two jelly fish being seen. Time will tell!!!
