National Museum of The Marine Corps Design by Fentress Architects

Fentress Architects was charged with creating a museum that successfully captured the Marine Corps unique esprit de corps — a combination of qualities uniquely intrinsic to the Marines. The museums iconic keystone feature is its 150-foot diameter, 450-ton steel and glass skylight through which a 210-foot, stainless-steelclad mast projects at a 60° angle, a stylized and stunning reference to the famous photograph of the flag raising at Iwo Jima. This mast sparkles in the sunlight and is dramatically uplit at night, enlivening the entire structure. The skylight functions as a ceiling plane for the buildings central hub, termed The Leatherneck Gallery. Together, the elements combine to create a dramatic, inspirational arrival. Stone walls and globe-patterned terrazzo flooring contrast with steel elements to warm the interior. The site is organized to give its soaring feature high visibility from the adjacent interstate, across which over 100000 cars travel each day.

Stokes Bay Lighthouse aviation Bruce County Museum

www.squidoo.com National Helicopters Kleinburg, Ontario, was commissioned by Bruce County and the Canadian Coast Guard to carry out the lighthouse lift helicopter Sikorsky S61. The wooden building of the Light Range will be removed in two pieces and flown rest area in the parking lot of the Black Creek Provincial Park. The structure is then loaded onto a wagon for the trip to Southampton. The representatives are from the Canadian Coast Guard, Ontario Parks, Bruce spotCounty, and Rigarus Construction (Torre Contractor).
